LEED is a green building program dedicated to measuring sustainable building performance. Through ensuring ecologically responsible actions today, we can preserve a healthy world for future generations. This idea is sustainability at it’s core, and a moving influence in our company. Recent studies show that LEED and other third party rated buildings add significant value resulting in higher rent premiums, occupancy rates, and sales. National averages state that:
- Rent premiums are 2%-6% higher per square foot
- Occupancy rates are 3%-4% higher per square foot
- LEED rated buildings sell for $171 more per square foot
Sustainable Materials
At EcoSteel, we believe whole heartedly in the sustainable aspects of steel. Today, the steel you purchase contains at least 76% recycled content. Steel is also a long lasting product. Unlike wood and other organic materials, steel is not prone to mold, mildew, insects and rot. Treated properly, as our products are, steel can also withstand moisture and rust.
Zero Energy +
Zero and Positive energy buildings are an important next step in our struggle to limit the risks associated with energy production. With thermal ratings of up to R-48, and the lower embodied energy of recycled materials and local shipping points, we provide the perfect start for your zero-energy project.
Indoor Air Quality
Steel buildings require none of the toxic treatments and adhesives that wood constructed buildings do. Not only does this preserve human health, but studies show that it increases productivity. While the additional fees of building green are only $3 to $5 more per sq. foot, estimated productivity and health savings over a 20 year period are $36-$55 per sq. foot.
